There’s a new circuit coming to the international mountaineer skiing scene: the 2016 Ladinia Ski Alp CUP. This is a two-stage event which is destined to become an end of season classic for fans of skinning races.
The idea came to the Organizing Committees of the 40th Pizolada delle Dolomiti and of the 5th Marmoleda Fullgass Race, which are scheduled respectively on Sunday, April 3rd, and Saturday, April 9th, 2016. The historical event takes place each year on the snowy peaks of Passo San Pellegrino, and the compelling, more recent race crosses the Marmolada glacier, the highest summit in the Dolomites. Now they will come together to create a combined general classification, which will add up the sum of the times of both tests for all the men’s and women’s athletes who participate in both competitions.
Specifically, to mark the occasion of the prize ceremony of the Marmoleda Fullgass Race, the first 5 men’s athletes and the first 5 women’s athletes will be awarded. Furthermore, the first 200 people registered in the combined event by March 30th, 2016, will receive a powerstretch elasticized technical jacket with a retail value of € 89.90.
Both events will feature a competitive route as well as an amateur division for anyone who wants to take on a skinning expedition in complete safety, following the tracks of mountaineer skiing’s greatest champions. This is a return to the past for the Pizolada, while for the Marmoleda this is an all-new grand edition. Excursionists will receive the same race package as the competitive athletes, but they won’t be subject to time restrictions and won’t be ranked in the final classification.
The registration fee for each individual race is € 40.00 each, but if you sign up now for both races the discount price is € 70.00. Registrations for the combined competition are already open.
